Dübendorf, Switzerland, 24 September 2026 — BTRY and InsightSilica have entered into a collaboration to develop solid-state batteries for use in the semiconductor industry.
As semiconductor manufacturing becomes more advanced, equipment and components must deliver greater performance in increasingly demanding conditions. For batteries, these conditions are particularly challenging. Available space is extremely limited, while aggressive process conditions place requirements on materials, design and reliability that conventional batteries are unable to meet.
BTRY’s solid-state battery technology offers a promising approach to these challenges. The batteries are below 1 mm thick, contain no flammable liquid electrolyte and can operate at temperatures of up to 150°C. Their compact and flexible design also creates opportunities where installation space is measured in fractions of a millimetre.
Through the collaboration, BTRY and InsightSilica will combine their respective expertise in battery technology and semiconductor manufacturing. The partners will work together to adapt and validate BTRY’s technology for the specific requirements of semiconductor environments.
